SOG = Soak-Off Gel Polish
If you haven't heard of soak off gel polish [SOG] aka a shellac manicure
at the salon, where have you been? It's a MILLION times better than
regular nail polish [RNP] being that there's no dry time or chipping. If
you don't mind cuticle growth one can get a full 2 to 3 weeks out of
one manicure with a lasting GLOSSY FINISH.
I would suggest going to salon and trying it out before investing in DIY products. But the lasting power of SOG all has to do with application so if it's a so-so nail tech that does your manicure and it's just 'okay' to you, ends up only lasting a couple days there's an application error.
I personally never went to a salon, because I prefer to do my own nails for various reasons. When I first started DIYing gel polish I could only get a few days of chip-free wear so there's definitely a learning curve to gel polish. As well as proper technique and application. So if you do go to a salon and try out a "shellac" manicure, but feel as though you could have done better yourself there are quite a few DIY start at home kits available these days as SOG has grown very popular.
